Vandalism at David Livingstone Birthplace Playpark

  • Update 22:40pm. The David Livingstone Birthplace posting the CCTV footage obviously did the trick, with parents getting in touch to suggest the boys will contact the centre tomorrow and own up to damaging the equipment.

Staff at the centre said, “We are asking for help from our ever supportive community.

“We’re really sad to share that on Saturday the 30th of May in the late evening, a group of six individuals were shown on our CCTV footage to have damaged property on our play park. They had damaged one of the palm trees in the park with the wood beam being split down the middle.

If you know any of the individuals that may have been at our location that evening and could be involved or if you would like come forward, we please ask for you to contact our team on 0141 375 3105 or to come down to our museum and speak to a staff member, as soon as able.

Now, we do have extensive camera footage of the group walking towards the park in full view and of the resulting incident. However, we would like offer the opportunity for those involved to come forward before CCTV footage is passed over to Police.

We appreciate those in our community who deeply care for our Centre and for the volunteer gardeners who look after our grounds. We ask all our visitors to treat the space with care so that it can be enjoyed by everyone now and in the future.”
