You may have seen the recent news that the Government will be increasing the energy price cap from 1st July 2026.
Set by the energy regulator, Ofgem, this change applies to all energy providers in the UK and reflects continued rising costs in delivering energy to homes. A difficult time for many as higher energy bills are never welcome, especially if they continue into Winter.
This wave of price increases is primarily a direct result of events a few months ago, when America went to war with Iran.
We’ve had our own price increases notified by the energy company we use putting 1.5p per unit on both gas and electricity, around £400 a year more.

Considering UK gas comes from:
47% domestic production.
31% net pipeline imports from Europe and….
22% LNG imports, 11% of which is from USA, 1 1/2% from Qatar, the rest from Peru and other global sources.
The war with Iran certainly increased shipping fuel costs but should that not be considered short term?
Usually when prices go up they don’t come down.
No mechanism to fight this (IMO) continued rip off of the UK public?
No organisation absorbs anything….easy to pass on to the consumer. Only my opinion.
