One of Lanarkshire’s most colourful and spectacular annual events is almost here, as the Strathaven Balloon Festival returns from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th August 2026!
Held in Strathaven Park, the hugely popular festival is Scotland’s only hot air balloon festival and promises another fantastic weekend of balloons, entertainment and family fun.
🎈 Friday 28th August
Balloons arrive ahead of a planned evening flight just after 6pm, weather permitting.
🎈 Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th August
Early risers can catch the spectacular balloon launches at around 6am, with further launches planned just after 6pm.
🪂 The Sky Masters from Skydive Strathallan are also scheduled to take to the skies at 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting.
✨ One of the highlights comes on Saturday evening just after 9pm, when the balloons light up the park for the spectacular Evening Glow.
From 12 noon on Saturday and Sunday, the park will also host family entertainment including live music, a funfair, stalls, classic vehicles and tethered hot air balloons, subject to weather conditions.
Best of all, admission is FREE!
With colourful balloons filling the Lanarkshire skies, this is always a fantastic spectacle and a brilliant family day out.
