Glasgow city centre is looking rather different this week as Hollywood filmmakers transform parts of the city into Gotham City for the filming of The Batman: Part II.
Pedestrians have been stopping for a look as familiar Glasgow streets suddenly take on an unmistakably American appearance.
❄️ Fake snow has been spread across streets and vehicles, while Gotham City Police cars, SWAT vehicles and huge American-style trucks have appeared around the city centre.
Shopfronts, street signs, bus stops and buildings have also been temporarily transformed to make Glasgow look like Batman’s fictional home city.
Much of the activity has centred around Bothwell Street and surrounding streets, with filming taking place at several locations around Glasgow during August.
There has even been excitement amongst fans after the Batmobile was spotted in the city!
🎬 The new movie is the sequel to 2022’s The Batman, with Robert Pattinson returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Matt Reeves once again directing.
Glasgow is certainly no stranger to the big screen. Its architecture and streets have previously doubled for Gotham and other major international film locations, making the city increasingly familiar to Hollywood filmmakers.
With filming continuing, anyone heading into Glasgow over the coming days might just stumble across Gotham City in the middle of Scotland!
🦇 Have you spotted any of the Batman filming or Gotham vehicles in Glasgow this week?
