Organisers have announced that Elfingrove will not be going ahead this year, just one day AFTER tickets going on sale! Everyone who has already purchased tickets set to receive a full automatic refund.
The team behind the Glasgow Christmas event said the difficult decision had been taken after early ticket demand fell below the level needed to confidently proceed with such a large-scale event.
Despite thousands of tickets being sold on the first day, organisers explained that staging a major event involves significant financial risk.
In a statement, the itison team said: “As a small independent business rooted right here in Glasgow, we have to be practical as well as ambitious.”
Refunds are due to begin being processed within 24 hours, with ticket holders receiving confirmation directly.
The organisers stressed that the cancellation does not affect any of their other events and said they were hugely disappointed for everyone who had been looking forward to Elfingrove.
They thanked customers for their support and the many positive comments received since the event was announced, adding that they hope to return with more events in the future.
However, not everybody has welcomed the news, with some people taking to social media stating that the event has been cancelled far too EARLY giving it no time to be advertised.
A disappointing announcement for families who had already been making plans for Christmas. Were YOU planning on going to this?
