Exciting news for Blantyre as further ambitious expansion plans have been submitted to South Lanarkshire Planning department for the stunning Crossbasket Castle Hotel. Bringing the prospect of more luxury accommodation, leisure facilities including a swimming pool and gym, and of course further tourism and job opportunities to our town!
Following the successful completion of Phase 1 in March 2025, which introduced a magnificent new 40-bedroom hotel, bar, Trocadero’s and Foveran restaurants and improved parking facilities, the business is now looking towards the next stages of development.
Phase 2 – More luxury accommodation and leisure facilities
According to the public planning submission, the next phase proposes a further 28 ground-floor hotel bedrooms, arranged around an attractive landscaped single storey courtyard and kitchen garden. Plans also include new swimming and leisure facilities (including a gym and yoga room), with the extension directly connected to the existing hotel building.
Phase 3 – Riverside woodland cabins
Perhaps one of the most exciting additions are the 12 individual luxury timber cabins, nestled amongst the mature woodland overlooking the River Calder, now nearing completion. Each single-storey cabin features a bedroom, living area, bathrooms and a covered outdoor decking area, offering guests a peaceful retreat by the River surrounded by nature.
🌳 The proposals have all been carefully designed to complement the historic nearby building and preserve the character of the beautiful woodland setting.
Further parking is also planned and of course the Four Angels Spa, already well progressed is also opening soon.
It all adds up to another fantastic addition for Blantyre! This continued investment could be another tremendous boost for the local area, attracting more visitors, supporting local businesses and creating additional employment opportunities in hospitality, tourism and associated services.
Crossbasket Castle has already established itself as one of Scotland’s outstanding luxury destinations, and these exciting proposals demonstrate further confidence in its future right here in High Blantyre.
Phase 2 plans are proposals at this stage with planning decision still to be made.
