Wee Bridge to close next week

It’s open. It’s closed. It’s open. It’s closed! Well, it really is about to be CLOSED again. The Newhousemill bridge (the Wee Bridge) at Newhousemill Road on the backroads to East Kilbride is scheduled to be closed off to traffic shortly, whilst contractors yet again make repairs.

The narrow but well used bridge which is so prone to accidents will be closed to traffic from 8am on Monday, October 19 until 11.59pm on Sunday, October 25th.

South Lanarkshire Council said: “The closure is required to allow repairs to the bridge superstructure to be carried out.”

“A diversion will be in place via High Common Road, the A726 Strathaven Road, A725 Kingsway, A725 Expressway, B7012, Douglas Street, Sydes Brae in Blantyre, Parkneuk Road, and Newhousemill Road.”
