Blantyre swimming pool remains closed – community frustration grows

Residents hoping to return to swimming at Blantyre Leisure Centre face continued disappointment, with the swimming pool and health suite remaining closed due to an ongoing problem with the building’s air handling unit.

In its latest customer notice, South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture confirmed that it is working closely with South Lanarkshire Council to resolve the issue and arrange repairs as soon as possible.

However, no reopening date has been announced, leaving local swimmers and families uncertain about when these important facilities will become available again.

The continued closure affects far more than just recreational swimming. For many Blantyre residents, the pool is an important part of their weekly routine, providing exercise, rehabilitation, swimming lessons and opportunities for children and older people to stay active.

With the October school holidays underway, the closure is particularly disappointing for families looking for affordable local activities. While repairs are clearly necessary, questions remain about how long the facilities will be unavailable and whether more can be done to minimise disruption.
