Local young people helping shape the future of UK youth!

Two inspiring young women from our local area have been making their voices heard on a national stage, helping to influence positive change for young people across the UK!

👏 Amy Ogilvie and Alona McIlvaney have spent the past year proudly representing Scotland as part of the Cross Nations Youth Forum, working alongside young people from England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The forum brings together young people in partnership with Youth Scotland, Youth Cymru, UK Youth and Youth Action Northern Ireland, ensuring that young people’s opinions are heard by those making important decisions about their futures.

🏆 One of their biggest achievements has been helping to develop and launch a UK-wide Youth Manifesto!

The manifesto identifies eight key priorities reflecting the issues that matter most to young people today, calling on youth organisations, politicians and decision-makers to take meaningful action to improve opportunities and outcomes.

Amy and Alona have played an active role in shaping the manifesto, helping make its messages accessible, engaging and relevant to young people across all four nations.

Their journey has also taken them to Belfast, where they recently participated in further forum activities on Sunday 25th October.

Speaking about their achievement exclusively to Blantyre Telegraph, the pair said they were incredibly proud to have represented Scotland and contributed to work that will amplify young people’s voices across the UK.

💙 What a fantastic achievement for two local young people!

It’s wonderful to see young people from our own community stepping forward, showing leadership and proving that you don’t have to come from a big city to make a difference nationally.

A huge well done to Amy and Alona! 👏

💬 Let’s show these two young women some well-deserved local support! What a brilliant example of our younger generation making a positive difference!
