Blantyre LIFE shortlisted for Integrated Care Award

Two South Lanarkshire teams, Blantyre LIFE and David Walker Gardens Care Home, have been recognized as finalists in Scotland’s Health Awards. Blantyre LIFE is noted for enhancing integrated care and supporting over 200 individuals, while David Walker Gardens has improved mental health care through innovative communication technology. Their efforts showcase exemplary service in health and social care.

Springwell Playpark Removed

The recent removal of the children’s playpark in Springwell has caused concern among residents and local councillors, as safe outdoor play spaces are dwindling. The Council did not inform the community of this decision, prompting inquiries for reinstatement. Cllr Razzaq emphasizes the need for swift resolution and community access to play facilities.

SLLC Community & School Halls Consultation

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture has initiated a public consultation to gather feedback on indoor community and school spaces and a new pricing structure to enhance financial sustainability. After withdrawing from 42 halls recently, SLLC invites community input to shape future hall usage. The survey closes on October 26, 2025.

Library Opening Hours

Blantyre’s new library, located in the Blantyre Sports Centre reception, is open daily from 8am to 8pm on weekdays and 8am to 5pm on weekends. It offers book lending, photocopying, and printing services. Staff are available for assistance during specific hours on weekdays. Photocopying is accessible all day.

Blantyre Leisure Centre re-opens

Blantyre Swimming Pool has reopened on a reduced timetable, while the gym remains closed for upgrades. The leisure centre will resume some services from September 29, 2025, but will close the pool again on November 3 for further improvements. Updates will be provided regarding the ongoing transformation project.

Blantyre Library Hub Opens

The Blantyre Library Hub has officially opened at the Blantyre Leisure Centre as of September 29th. The new location features a vibrant space for visitors to explore books and enjoy art. The team is available to assist with inquiries, expressing gratitude for public patience during the transition.
