36 new Council homes for Hamilton

The Hamilton Council plans to acquire 36 new homes from Keepmoat Homes at the former University site, investing over £8.8 million. The fitness studio and gym at Hamilton have been refurbished through South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture’s £2.74 million initiative. Fitness classes resumed at Almada Street in early January, with the gym set to reopen on January 15 after significant upgrades. Blantyre’s gym and pool reopened the previous week.

Parents in South Lanarkshire with children starting nursery should apply early for places, ideally by February 28, 2026. This maximizes their chances of securing preferred Early Learning and Childcare settings for the August start. Swimming Pool Re-Opening

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture announced the completion of refurbishment at Blantyre Leisure Centre, with the gym and swimming pool reopening on January 12. Upgrades include new gym equipment and enhanced changing facilities. Swimming lessons and Aquafit resume the same day, while fitness classes are temporarily held at Jock Stein Centre.
