South Lanarkshire Council is commencing road surfacing repairs at Forrest Street, Blantyre, starting Wednesday, December 17th, for three days. While minor disruptions for drivers may occur, businesses are expected to remain unaffected. This project addresses necessary carriageway repairs under reference Carriageway Patching HM26/294.
Emergency Road Closure at Whistleberry Road
Whistleberry Road in Blantyre is closed to traffic for emergency gas repairs by SGN. The closure affects westbound traffic between Glasgow Road junction and Whistleberry Industrial Estate from December 4th to 19th, or sooner if completed. Alternative routes are available via the A725 EK Expressway and Glasgow Road.

Small Crescent Road Closure
South Lanarkshire Council has announced a road closure for Small Crescent in Blantyre from December 1 to December 5, 2025. The closure, for SPEN connection works, will affect the area from Hardie Street to Victoria Street, with diversions set up through Small Crescent, Victoria Street, and Hardie Street.
Ek Expressway Lane Closures this Festive Season
Lane closures on the A725 East Kilbride Expressway will occur overnight from 10pm to 6am starting November 24 until December 19, 2025, for electrical upgrades by SP Energy Networks. Traffic management will be implemented, with specific closures on Douglas Street and Hamilton Road. Upgrades aim to enhance electricity supply for green technologies.
