The Village Bar team successfully participated in the Kiltwalk, raising over £6,000 for charity in memory of Colin King, a veteran of over 30 Kiltwalks before his untimely death in Germany. Congratulations to all team members for their efforts, and hope they took time to relax afterward.
Support St Blane’s Primary: Family Fun Night
St Blane’s Primary parent council is organizing a family fun night on Friday, May 9th, at Blantyre Miners Welfare from 7pm. Tickets cost £7 for adults and £2 for children, including bingo, raffles, a buffet, and more. Donations for raffle prizes are welcomed to support children’s activities and projects.

This Thursday, Calderside Academy received twelve new laptops, the initial delivery of an ongoing campaign supported by Agnews Family Shopper and Blantyre Telegraph. The donation addresses equipment shortages, enhancing student access to technology. Head teacher Ms. Calder expressed gratitude, emphasizing the positive impact on education amid budget cuts. The campaign continues for further support.

Millie Dawes: A Heartfelt Hair Donation for Charity
Major Fireworks Events Cancelled
There will be no Fireworks display in Strathclyde Park for November 2025 or 2026 due to extensive construction work at the watersports centre. Alternative sites were deemed unsafe for expected crowds. North Lanarkshire Council prioritized health and safety, postponing the event. Community groups must secure a license for public events.
Blantyreferme Roundabout Update
The Blantyreferme roadworks are advancing with progress on the new roundabout at Blantyre Farm Road and Calder Road. Although the road to Newton remains closed, contractors have finished significant earthworks and kerbing, while drainage and landscaping are in progress. Completion is expected in two months, aiming for a June 2025 opening.
