Festive Bin Collection

South Lanarkshire Council has announced changes to festive bin collection schedules. No collections will occur on December 25, 26, and January 1. Burgundy bins and bulk uplifts resume on January 5. Residents can dispose of real Christmas trees using normal collection days or by booking a free uplift between January 5-9.

Remembering Archie Gordon

We regret to announce the passing of Archie Gordon. His funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, December 16th, at 1.30pm at Blantyre Old Parish Church, followed by a service at Daldowie Crematorium at 3pm and a gathering at Blantyre Miners Welfare. Our condolences to the Gordon family during this difficult time.

Well done Jimmy ‘Santa’ Small

Jimmy Small, in his 80s, is a dedicated local volunteer who has been portraying Santa for various charities in Blantyre. This holiday season, he has participated in numerous events, including Christmas fayres and school parties. His hard work for the community is greatly appreciated by both his family and residents.

Festive Cheer for Devlin Grove Friendship Group

LEAP’s Devlin Grove friendship group celebrated Christmas with a festive lunch, thanks to a £500 donation from Blantyre Community Council. Members enjoyed a buffet and a lively singalong with entertainer Laura Coburn, creating a joyful atmosphere. Coordinator Donna McPherson and attendee Ann Hartmann expressed gratitude for the enjoyable event and support received.
