Starting next week, dedicated teams will clear litter along rural roads around Hamilton as part of the It’s Your Place campaign. Work begins on June 9th, affecting multiple roads and reducing traffic to one lane from 9am to 3:30pm. Littering penalties range from £80 to £500 for serious offenses.
On April 25th, 57 volunteers united to clean Strathclyde Park, collecting 150 bags of litter. Contributors included various local organizations and community groups, ensuring the park is pristine for summer enjoyment. Those interested in future clean-up events can contact Hamilton and Blantyre Litter Pickers to join the initiative.
From next week, teams will begin clearing litter from rural roads around East Kilbride, including Stoneymeadow Road. The programme will extend to other areas in the following weeks. To ensure safety, road access will be limited between 9am and 3.30pm. Drivers should expect delays and penalties for littering are strict.

A week-long clean-up of litter from South Lanarkshire Council-owned roads has begun, with teams working near Blantyre today on Blantyre Farm Road and Calder Road down to the bridge. Drivers are thanked for their patience as this necessary clean up takes place.
