Water Recovery of Stricken Vehicle

Local business ‘Karen Yuill Recovery’ successfully recovered a stranded vehicle at Strathclyde Park on Wednesday. Using their boat, they assisted in getting the 4×4 to the water with the HI-AB truck anchoring it, enabling a recovery operator in the boat to hook the car and pull it onto the truck.

Strathclyde Park Pavilion renovation

The Strathclyde Watersports Centre is undergoing transformation to create a community-focused facility with enhanced health, business, and outdoor education spaces, including a café and better accessibility features. The project aims to achieve an 80% reduction in carbon footprint by utilizing advanced insulation and renewable energy. Completion is expected by spring 2027.

Major Fireworks Events Cancelled

There will be no Fireworks display in Strathclyde Park for November 2025 or 2026 due to extensive construction work at the watersports centre. Alternative sites were deemed unsafe for expected crowds. North Lanarkshire Council prioritized health and safety, postponing the event. Community groups must secure a license for public events.

Strathclyde Park Access

Access to Strathclyde Country Park (Airbles entrance only) will be closed today to vehicles from 11:30am-12:45pm (Sat, 13 July) as The Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS) receive the Freedom of North Lanarkshire. If you want to show your support, you can line the parade route from 12pm.
