Some of the field accesses and gated areas at Sydes Brae and Auchentibber, received a cleanup today. In recent weeks some unscrupulous individuals had fly tipped lots of rubbish in the area, making many areas unsightly. Despite complaint to the council, the rubbish had lain there for some weeks, through the holiday.
Today, Blantyre Community Committee (BCC) made the best of the dry weather and charged full of civic pride, set about to clean up the rubbish on behalf of Blantyre residents. Despite several members of the committee being back at work , others were able to give up their valuable remaining holiday time to volunteer for the litterpick.
The rubbish was cleaned up and bagged, left behind for South Lanarkshire Council to uplift, making their job a whole load easier and giving them no reason not to come out to take it away.
This litter-pick activity in the first week of January, saw Blantyre Community Committee’s busy schedule for 2016 get off to a great start and I’m sure is appreciated by all.
