Blantyre’s, Mya McDade (11) is on a path for stardom. The schoolgirl has been living the dream for these last few years by picking up National trophies for her amazing talent in different forms of dance. Her stunning accomplishments have seen her travel the length of the country and even taking part in TV talent shows.
Perhaps her highest accolade to date, Mya recently attended and won a competition called ‘Diva Divo’, which is one of the largest freestyle Disco competitions in the UK. The event is attended by schoolchildren from all over the UK and throughout Europe.
In recent days, Mya won Under 12’s Premier Champion Slowdance. She also won the competition for Under 12’s Premier Champion Solo and was overall the ‘Diva Divo’ Under 12’s Award Winner 2016.
2016 is the 4th year runing where she has claimed the top prize in such National and International competitions, which is truly an amazing achievement for a “wee lass from Blantyre.”
Under the supervision of her parents Elaine (who owns Blantgyres Dance Central in Station Road) and Stephen McDade, Mya is destined for future successes. Her delighted father, Stephen, exclusively told Blantyre Telegraph last night, “She trains hard four nights a week and is completely dedicated to her dancing, regularly attending competitions across the UK and Europe. We’re extremely proud of not only her achivements but her determination and passion that she applys to her dancing.”
We sincerely wish Mya all the best for her bright future and we think she’ll be (if not already) an inspiration to other young Blantyre girls.
