Go Team Scotland – Netball

The Scotland Women’s Netball team is currently in action playing in the Commonwealth Games.

Of interest is that one of the competing athletes is Lynsey Gallagher, a school teacher at High Blantyre Primary!

Lynsey (25), comes from East Kilbride but works in High Blantyre. She received her first international cap at the age of 17 whilst competing at the European Championships in 2007. She captained the Scotland team at the World Youth Championships in 2013 before going on to make her Commonwealth Games debut at Glasgow 2014.

With over 70 caps for Scotland, including the 2015 Netball World Cup,  Lynsey is vice-captain of the team at Gold Coast 2018. Lynsey’s younger sister Katie has also represented Scotland at U17, U19 and U21 level for Netball.

Scotland’s netball team are halfway through their competition, already with a win against Wales. The match against New Zealand started at 11.30am this morning and can be watched here on a live stream http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/commonwealth-games/43507482

Good luck to all of Team Scotland and GO Lynsey!!
