Our final fundraising totals of the year are now in! What an amazing month December has been for raising funds for local good causes, which of course is the main reason why this page exists!
We’re thrilled to announce that during December alone, Blantyre Telegraph has raised a whopping £3,040.00 towards local good causes! Not only a record breaking month, but one which reaches a new lofty total of £22,758 for 119 local good causes to date since 2015!
We recently provided 2 separate weeks holidays in the west of Scotland to the Noel Charity Lunches in the Crutherland Hotel, EK on 7th and 14th December, which after bidding, we’re reliably informed, went for a massive £2,400! The total goes directly to Maggie’s Cancer Charity in Lanarkshire.
A further £405 was provided by Blantyre Project from the royalties from sales of 121 Blantyre history books running up to and throughout the festive period, a record breaking month indeed! Thank you to everybody who bought Blantyre books as Christmas gifts!
Every penny raised goes to local good causes, as always. The intention is for it to be spent as follows:
£2,400 Maggies Cancer Charity donation
£265 donated to Blantyre Community Committee for the 2019 Blantyre Summer Gala Weekend
£60 for raffle prizes in the Noel Charity Lunches
£45 for new donation buckets (to expand donations all over Blantyre in 2019)
£25 donation to David Livingstone Trust for their Crowdfunder to buy a rare Magic Lantern slide for the renovated museum.
£10 donation to High Blantyre Christmas Fayre Raffle
Let’s not forget that just before Christmas, a further £235 was generously donated by 61 very kind readers (in just 2 hours!) to cover ALL our domain and hosting services for all of 2019! This was unexpected and greatly appreciated!
Blantyre Telegraph ends the year on a MASSIVE high and we look forward to seeing what 2019 brings!
Thanks to everybody for their continued support.
