Planning Application has been submitted this week which proposes the building of a new roundabout on the Blantyreferme Road.
The proposal aims to remove the T junction at Calder Road and Blantyreferme Road , building a new roundabout with associated realigned approaches and drainage. The roundabout would be significant stretching from the current entrance of Redlees Park beyond the existing junction, (approximately shown in our illustration)
With new housing built at Newton, urban sprawl gets ever increasingly near to Blantyre and the plan has been deemed necessary due to the increased volume of traffic, currently having to queue. The junction is busy t peak times. The proposal would also remove the sweeping 90 degree bend, hopefully making the road safer.
