Blantyre Farm Road is closed near the Haughhead Sandstone bridge over the River Clyde, restricting access from Uddingston. A police incident is underway, limiting entry to the Blantyre/Newton side for businesses like Clydeway Golf Range. Vehicles face lengthy diversions and must turn back. Further updates are pending.
Parts of Blantyre Farm Road, Calder Road, and Westburn Road have been closed since mid-January, but will re-open on July 20th at 5:00 PM due to the completion of a new roundabout. The project also includes landscaping improvements, a new entrance for Redlees Park, and upgraded drainage and lighting.
Construction on the Blantyreferme roadworks is progressing well, with the new roundabout at Blantyre Farm Road and Calder Road taking shape. Much of the earthworks, kerbing, drainage, and lighting are complete, but the road to Newton remains closed. The project is expected to finish in over a month, opening for school holidays.
Redlees Urban Park, just off Blantyreferme Road will close their carpark from mid January for 6 months. Blantyre Farm Road from Uddingston is now open again following yesterdays accident, but there are temporary traffic lights in place for the crossing over the Clyde Bridge at Haughhead. Please be aware the lights are actually on the bridge so take care on approach. Nearby Golf range open as normal today.
