Remembrance Day

With so many of our readers in different places throughout the world and outwith Blantyre, each year we get messages saying what can be done to include them in Blantyre’s remembrance events.

This year is of course different. 2020 means even those in the town have not been able to congregate together, offering their own individual tributes. Such shame too, as the War memorials are looking amazing. With thanks to all the individuals who decorated the area with poppies and displays.

As we do each year, on your behalf, we’ve organised this beautiful wreath on YOUR behalf and ours, which was made with care and attention by Blantyre craftswoman, Margaret Currie of, ‘Dreams to Themes Creations’.

It was recently placed at the War Memorial in High Blantyre, with the sentiment that on this remembrance day, it is from all 20,693 Blantyre Telegraph readers.

A second identical wreath was placed at Auchentibber War Memorial.

Of course, today is all about remembering those who lost their lives in conflict, named men (and women) whose names are on those War Memorials. We will remember their sacrifices.

Lest we Forget
