Blantyre Miners Welfare Appeal

Blantyre Miners Welfare Social Club needs YOUR help.

It’s been a tough year for clubs due to the covid restrictions and the Miners Welfare has been significantly affected. They’ve lost hundreds of trading days, the loss of 72 booked functions, 19 weekend sessions, 95 bingo sessions and other means of income. In total, it’s had a catastrophic effect on their finances.

Speaking to the Welfare the other day, a spokesperson told us of how they intended to combat this reduction by holding a monthly draw, commenting, “We’re asking for £10 per month equivalent to £2.50 per week with 4 weekly draws taking place on Monday the 7th ,14th, 21st and 28th of December. Weekly prize money will be £100, £25 and £25. Our aim is generate £1500 monthly income less prizes of £600 leaving £900 for the club.”

If you wish to participate in this fund raiser pick a number between one and one hundred and fifty and speak to a member of the committee or drop into the club Tuesday or Wednesday between 12 noon and 1pm as the club is open for lunches on weekdays.

If you would prefer, speak to the Treasurer about paying directly into the Clubs Bank account.
