Reminder of Fireworks Laws in Scotland

With a few messages about Fireworks tonight, worth a reminder of tightened FIreworks laws in Scotland. It is an offence to:

– Possess fireworks under the age of 18
– Sell fireworks to anyone under the age of 18
– Buy or supply fireworks to anyone under the age of 18 (excluding category F1)
– Let off fireworks before 6pm & after 11pm ( midnight on bonfire night and 1am on New years Eve, Chinese new year and Diwali)
– Cause unnecessary suffering to animals

Unless you have a ‘reasonable excuse’ or are exempt, it is against the law to have:

– Any firework or pyrotechnic other than category 1 fireworks (Party poppers, novelty crackers and sparklers) in a public place, including the STREET OR PARKS

If you are found in possession of fireworks or pyrotechnics illegally, you could get a prison sentence of up to 6 months, be fined up to £5,000 or both.
