Winter Solstice

It’s the Winter Solstice. To be more precise, it’s at 1.30pm today, Monday, 21st December 2020.

Yes, incredibly already, the shortest day is here, changing getting lighter earlier by around 3 minutes each morning from now on. Darkness is on its way out and with it we look forward to seeing the back of 2020.

Some of us have thought this year has flown past, others thinking its dragged on. Looking back, it’s hard to imagine how on 23rd March, a Prime Minister came on TV in a live unprecedented address and asked every resident of the UK to remain at home in lockdown for months! Who could even have thought that possible back in 2019!

Sadly, we’re all too aware from messages this year just how many Blantyre people lost their lives due to Covid19 and our thoughts are with all those families, especially at this time of year. To the rest of you, we hope 2020 has not been too difficult and as the nights now start to get lighter, we can all look forward to a brighter, more positive outlook in 2021.

“Wishing you peace, blessings and good health this Winter Solstice.”
