A remarkable story has come to our attention, one of kindness involving the rescue of a High Blantyre woman.
Last Wednesday 3rd February 2021, a woman had been out walking at Blantyre Ferme Road, when unfortunately she suddenly lost her footing and slipped down a steep, grassy verge off the side of the road.
She lay there for some time alone until much later in the early evening, two young women, Jennifer Yule & Caitlin Brown were passing in a van heard her scream once again for help. They stopped, searched and thankfully found her.
Unfortunately they couldn’t lift her back up the verge given the muddy and icy conditions and flagged down somebody else to help. Blantyre man, Martin Jones stopped to assist.
Whilst the story is one of kindness and rescue, it’s worth a reminder to be careful if out walking alone, especially on unlit backroads or areas with no paths. Ensure you have a charged phone before going out also recommended.
Well done to Martin, Jennifer and Caitlin! Local Heroes! We’re hoping, as are all involved in this story, that the woman got over her shock quickly and made a good recovery.
