With the run up to Scottish Elections and all party campaigns now officially starting, Scotland’s First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon has announced she will no longer personally hold daily coronavirus briefings.
As such, Covid briefings will now only take place when there are important announcements to make or changes to public health advice. The move is to ensure election campaigns cannot be influenced. She is handing briefings over to clinical advisers and said that the public should expect to see more of Professor Jason Leitch and Dr Gregor Smith, recognised, permanent Scottish Government officials.
The health information will continue to be reviewed and briefings will be made when important changes or easing of restrictions are to be announced.
