South Lanarkshire Council have provided an update for Blantyre Leisure Centre customers.
“As you know sadly we had to close the gym at Blantyre this week due to our air handling unit not working. In the current climate we had to close to keep our customers safe in line with the safety ventilation guidelines. The part required was ordered on Wednesday and has been marked urgent. We hope to have the part delivered soon and have the gym back open again. We will keep our customers up todate as soon as we know.
A lot of you have also been asking about our pool, unfortunately this has taken much longer to repair. There is a delay on receiving the building materials again due to the current climate which has had a significant impact on the work being finished. Again we will update our customers as soon as we know. We want our pool and gym open as much as our customers and we will open them as soon as we possibly can. We thank you for your patience and understanding in advance.”
Speaking to SLC earlier this week, we were advised that the repairs to the Pool Roof are complete and the current delay to the renovation of the pool, is around the lack of grout materials available to complete the work. The previous suggested re-opening date of October, is at risk, with SLC intending to provide a revised opening date as soon as possible.
