From Blantyre to San Miguel

Meet local lad, 17 year old Josh Crawford. What a story he is creating on both sides of the Atlantic.

Josh bravely moved over to Tenerife in September 2021 to study at the new ‘Steven Gerrard Academy’ and LLS course in Tenerife not knowing a single person or able to speak Spanish..

What he did know, is, that he loved Tenerife (from previous family holidays) and he loved football and wanted a career within the sports industry.  His plan was simple. Study hard, train hard, introduce himself to local semi-pro club CD Marino, start learning Spanish and if possible try and secure a summer coaching role when attending the Global Coaching Conference at Anfield.

After one term of hard work, dedication and resilience (and plenty of sunshine), Josh last night made his CD Marino debut at CD San Miguel securing a 3-2 victory! He has also now secured a job in the USA with Challenger Sports a few weeks back at the GCC.

Hi college tutor proudly added, “His Spanish is ‘poco-poco’ and he has become one of the most likeable young men you’ll ever meet. He even Vlogs his days and posts them onto YouTube to show what his days are like in Sunny Tenerife on his YouTube channel called JC on Tour. ‘Hats off’ to you Josh. Putting the town firmly on a global map!
