Well done Maureen

A Blantyre Councillor has been recognised for her hard work, by winning a National award.

Cllr Maureen Chalmers of South Lanarkshire Council, picked up the accolade by winning the “Resilience & Recovery Award 2022”

The annual LGIU Scotland & CCLA Cllr Awards are the only national awards ceremony that celebrates the vital work of individual councillors across Scotland. The 2022 shortlist showcased 14 exceptional Scottish councillors who are true champions for local government and their communities.

The winners were unveiled on Wednesday 12 October 2022 with Maureen up against several other worthy candidates. Maureen has worked tirelessly for Blantyre and surrounding community for over 20 years and could have been nominated in every category. What stands out is her involvement during the pandemic with the Blantyre Official Coronavirus Group, Blantyre Community Council and always willing to help with local community organisations.

Maureen commented in her acceptance speech, noting the importance of letting the community organisations take the lead and then fitting in to work alongside them.

Congratulations Maureen! Very well deserved.
