The community is invited along today at 12.30 to High Blantyre Ceremony for a special unveiling of a brand new memorial commemorating the lives of hundreds of miners.
The memorial will for the first time provide a permanent listing of all the miners names, (and their ages) who died in 3 local disasters. Fittingly, situated beside where most of them are buried.
All are welcome. The event is expected to last 30 minutes with the weather expected to be dry.
