Protect Grassroots Football

A bitter dispute has erupted in South Lanarkshire around the Council’s plans to more than double the cost of children’s football in the area.

The decision was taken without proper consultation with the wider community and especially the users of the service and appears completely at odds with current Scottish Government guidance and policies as well (bizarrely) as the Council’s previous plan.

Various organisations and movements have sprang into action demanding answers and collecting large petitions.

We’d like to hear from parents and organisations in the comments below, to help form a meaningful collected response to South Lanarkshire Council and its Leisure Trust over the frankly ludicrous price increase. How has your child, family or organisation been affected by this? This all comes at a time when a cost of living crisis is hitting families and the council imposing other charges on recreation and leisure.

The 114% increase has been paused for consultation given the backlash….but it’s time it was scrapped.

Don’t let South Lanarkshire Council destroy children’s football. Have your say in comments below.
