Today’s Water Rescue

Following many messages today about an incident near Bothwell Bridge, we now have official details from authorities about what happened.

Four people were saved from the River Clyde this morning in a rescue near Strathclyde Park. At around 10.41am this morning, 12th April 2024, emergency services were alerted to a person in the water. Police and emergency services arrived on the A725 East Kilbride Expressway near the river crossing.

Fire fighters, specialist water rescue units, ambulance crews and police were all in attendance.

A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 10.41am on Friday, April 12, to reports of a person in the water at Strathclyde Park near Motherwell. Operations Control mobilised specialist water rescue units to the scene and crews safely recovered four casualties to a position of safety before they were handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.”
