A fund of £13 million has been included within the council’s financial plans in the capital programme and this is what has become known as the Transformation Fund which could potentially assist Blantyre Leisure centre.
£1m could potentially be used to improve ventilation of Blantyre Leisure Centre with internal remodelling and modernisation of the gym and fitness studios. The upgrade would replace all gym equipment , helping to justify price increases and ensure competitiveness.
It’s by no means decided yet, but is merely a consideration at this time.
Executive Director (Housing and Technical Resources) Executive Director (Community and Enterprise Resources) have issued a report in readiness for the next meeting. The Funds are designed to help modernise the leisure and culture estate, optimise use of assets and assist in the transition towards net zero.
South Lanarkshire Council decisions will be taken at Executive Committee on 8th May.
