Remembering Ann Baxter

It is with great sadness, we announce that local woman, Ann Baxter sadly passed away on Sunday 22nd September 2024.

Ann spent all her working life as a Primary School Teacher (mainly in South Lanarkshire) and she was so passionate about ensuring every child, no matter their circumstances, had access to the best education possible and to allow them to attain the best possible outcome. Ann had a difficult couple of years following a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, which had affected her both mentally and physically.

As thought go out to the family, especially her daughter Gwen and son, Laurence at this difficult time, we’re sure many people reading this will remember Ann fondly.

Gwen added, “My brother Laurence and I were always encouraged to reach for the sky and supported in all our endeavours – she was our biggest cheerleader. My mum was shy, gentle, quiet, unassuming and kind – she was always happy to take a step back and ensure the ones she loved take centre stage. My mum was so sharp mentally and one of the cleverest & strongest woman I ever had the privileged of knowing. We are going to miss her so very much.”

The confirmed funeral details are:

Friday 4th October 2024;
10.00am at St Joseph’s Parish, Glasgow Road, Blantyre;
Then on to Priestfield Cemetery, High Blantyre;
All friends and especially ex-pupils are respectfully invited.
