Just a quick update as we reveal what awards we made during September within the Blantyre Community. Once again, Blantyre Telegraph subscriptions to our brilliant Supporters Group have gone to various places this month.
Kicking things off in the interests of full transparency, you may remember us posting about Davie Fotheringham who turned 90 years young in September? Well, Davie still works, every day at Hunthill Road, High Blantyre and as the lollipop man there, he always has a cheery wave for everybody , rain or shine.
One Thursday evening at the end of September, we saw on social media that Davie was out with his wife and a few family members at Carrigans celebrating his big day. Well it’s not everyday you turn 90! SO, we hopped in the car, right there and then, and headed over to Carrigans. Sneaking in the back door, we soon found Davie’s table and introduced ourselves, presenting the table with £100 off their family meal.
It was a lovely surprise not just for Davie but all his family and the gesture was much appreciated. It was made clear it was from Supporters here in this group who had made that possible.
The family were absolutely delighted and we know it completely made Davie’s night! They all wanted to express their gratitude to everybody here for their kindness. More far reaching donations have been made this week also to others, but thats a story for another day!
