A comet not seen for 80,000 years can be seen in the morning sky.
The bright comet C/2023 A3 may be visible to the naked eye later this month, and was visible in the very early morning sky this week by camera or using binoculars. This image was shared by Blantyre man John Q.
Early eye-witness reports indicate that comet A3 is not yet a naked-eye object. It’s best seen by taking images. The first window of opportunity is now past but there’s a second one coming up this month.
If you missed it, the next window is between October 12 and 30. This, the RAS said, will be the prime chance to see it, this time by looking to the west just after sunset. For most of us in Blantyre that means looking over towards the Calder direction.
