Road safety enhancements, including new signs, markings, and anti-skid surfacing, are being introduced across South Lanarkshire following the allocation of nearly half a million pounds from a Scottish Government fund.
The council has received £496,642 from a national £10 million road safety investment fund, distributed among local authorities to support essential safety projects aimed at reducing risks and lowering casualties on local roads.
Among the locations benefiting from these upgrades is the junction of Hillhouse Road and Technology Avenue in High Blantyre, where a major anti-skid surfacing project is scheduled for the New Year.
Transport Secretary Fiona Hyslop stated, “Road safety is a top priority for the Scottish Government. This total £14 million investment emphasises our commitment to assisting our partners in implementing measures that safeguard the public.”
