After the Storm: Community Resilience and Recovery

The storm may have passed, but its impact is still being felt across our community. Fallen trees, damaged fences, and scattered debris have left their mark as residents wake up this morning to assess the aftermath.

From early this morning, we’ve already seen people out and about, helping their neighbours, family and friends clearing pathways and putting things back in order. We saw fences down, fallen and dangerous trees, tiles off roofs. It’s moments like these that remind us how resilient we are when we come together.

A big thank you to the emergency services, council teams, and everyone pitching in to restore our town. Such an example is the tree pictured at nearby Flemington Care home which blocked the facility. This tree was cleared promptly, allowing access, the hard work not going unnoticed!

It’s certainly worth now taking some time to walk around the outside of your home and garden, paying some attention to the roof. If you’re walking pets or on pavements, take care near trees, until the council and homeowners can make sure they’re safe.

If you need assistance or can offer help—whether it’s finding tradespeople, or simply checking on someone—please let us know in the comments below. Windy weather is still forecast today, though nothing like yesterday. We hope you haven’t been too affected by all this. Take care.
