Celebrating Robert Burns: Traditions of Burns Night

Tonight, we honour Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns, born on 25 January 1759 in Alloway. Known for iconic works like “Auld Lang Syne” and “Tam o’ Shanter,” Burns captured themes of love, friendship, and Scottish culture in his poetry. Burns night is a true Scottish celebration!

Burns Night traditions, dating back to the early 1800’s, include Burns Suppers with recitals of his poetry, traditional music, and a feast of haggis, neeps, and tatties. A toast of whisky often concludes the celebration.

Wherever our readers are in the world, please take a moment to celebrate Scotland’s heritage and the timeless words of Rabbie Burns.
