The weather looks settled for a brilliant, free family day taking place in the grounds of David Livingstone Birthplace, Station Road Blantyre this Wednesday, April 9th.
Taking place from 11am until 3pm, Social enterprises Gear Up, run by Lanark-based Healthy Valleys, and Wishaw organisation Socialtrack will provide adult and children’s bikes, e-bikes, BMX, scooters and skateboards to try out!
Kids will also get an introduction to gardening with a selection of free seeds on offer from the climate action hub’s seed savers project, aiming to help Lanarkshire residents grow fruit and vegetables locally. The museum staff will also be running informative garden tours and sharing their horticulture tips.
Travel development officer Greig Hawke said: “I’m really excited for what I hope will be the first of many active travel community events in Lanarkshire this year.
“As well as hosting a fun and varied programme of activities for the community, the event will act as a showcase for other groups who would like to host similar events in their area, with support from Lanarkshire climate action hub and community cycling groups like Gear Up and Socialtrack.”
Information and application details about the hub’s new grants are available at www.climateactionlanarkshire.net/funding or by emailing travel@climateactionlanarkshire.net.
