Yellow Warning – Thunderstorms

Darker skies this afternoon have whipped up some winds and brought rain at 4pm there, which is expected to be heavy and could last into the evening. A flooding alert goes out for local roads in and out of Blantyre.

More of the same is forecast over the next few days were temperatures remaining high and feeling very muggy.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for Monday, as follows:

“Heavy showers and thunderstorms may lead to flooding and disruption in a few places. – Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures – There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds – Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services – There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost”
