Supermarket giant Aldi has unveiled plans to open a brand-new £3 million store on Old Edinburgh Road, Tannochside– in the unit currently operating as a Scotmid store.
If approved, the development will bring a major jobs boost to the area, with up to 35 new roles created. The move follows a lease agreement between Aldi and Scotmid, who will relocate into neighbouring units.
Aldi says it’s committed to working closely with local residents and will be hosting a community consultation event in the coming weeks to share plans and listen to feedback.
Andy Doyle, Real Estate Director at Aldi Stores Ltd, said:
“We’re proud to be investing in Tannochside and grateful to Scotmid for their collaboration. This project highlights Aldi’s commitment to growth and community partnership.”
The new store would expand Aldi’s presence on the outskirts of Glasgow and provide shoppers with more retail choice right on their doorstep.
