PIZZA Hut is set to close 68 dine-in restaurants and make 1,210 staff redundant after collapsing into administration earlier today.
First arriving in the UK in 1973, sadly administrators were called in today. Almost immediately, global owner, Yum! Brands, made a deal to keep 64 dine-in restaurants open, however, the other 68 restaurants are now part of the deal and face closure. Up to 1,200 jobs are feared to be lost.
A spokesperson added, “Today we announce the acquisition of the Pizza Hut dine-in operations through a pre-packaged administration, after FTI was announced today as administrators of DC London Pie Limited, a franchisee of Pizza Hut dine-in restaurants.”
Pizza Hut UK’s takeaway and delivery branches are unaffected by the collapse of the restaurant chain. The chain has blamed a struggling hospitality sector as less people eat out or look at ways to save their money.
Have your say. Do you visit Pizza Hut when eating out?
