Energy Price Rise Reminder

Gas and electricity prices are set to rise from Thursday, 1 January, meaning households across the UK could soon see higher bills.

If you don’t have a smart meter or on fixed rates, this week is the ideal time to submit your meter readings to your energy supplier. Doing so helps ensure your usage is billed accurately at the current rates, rather than relying on estimated readings when prices go up — which can sometimes leave customers overcharged.

📞 Why it matters:
When prices change, suppliers often split your bill between old and new rates. Without an up-to-date reading, they may estimate how much energy you used before the increase — and those estimates aren’t always in your favour.

✅ What to do now:

  • Take a gas and electricity meter reading
  • Submit it via your supplier’s app, website, or phone line
  • Keep a note or photo for your records

A few minutes now could help avoid paying more than you should later.
