Nestle have recalled some of its baby formula products over concerns that they may contain a toxin which causes nausea and stomach cramps.
The company said several batches of SMA infant formula and SMA follow on formula are not safe for babies. The toxin is highly heat-resistant, and unlikely to be destroyed by cooking, boiling water, or being made into baby formula, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) said.
In a recall notice, Nestle said the step was a “precautionary measure” and that “the safety and wellbeing of babies is our absolute priority”.
Consumers who have those particular batches should not feed the product to their babies.
The affected products were on sale in the UK and Ireland, with the specific batch numbers listed on there Nestle website here https://www.nestle.co.uk/en-gb/media/sma-infant-formula-follow-on-formula-recall
