The Scottish Government is taking legal action against hundreds of dentists accused of failing to complete the required amount of NHS work after receiving public bursaries.
More than 250 dentists are believed to be facing court proceedings as ministers attempt to recover the funding.
The dispute centres on a scheme that provided dentistry students with £4,000 per year towards their studies.
Earlier this month, a judge at the Court of Session ruled in favour of the Government in cases involving two dentists. The court found that too large a proportion of their income had been earned from private practice — exceeding the 20% limit allowed under the terms of the bursary agreement to avoid repayment.
