First-look at new Four Angels Spa and Hebridean-inspired cabins

The magnificent five-star Crossbasket Castle has confirmed its new destination spa and luxury riverside cabins will open early Autumn, marking the next chapter in the estate’s multi-million-pound transformation.

The development follows a £20m expansion launched in 2025, which saw the historic hotel evolve with the addition of 40 upscale bedrooms, palm court styled restaurant and an entertainment-led dining experience all overseen by Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux.

Building on this momentum, the latest phase places wellbeing and a deep connection to nature at its heart. Set within the estate’s picturesque surroundings, the new Four Angels Spa and Crossbasket Cabins have been carefully conceived to offer guests a restorative retreat that balances luxury with tranquillity.

The destination spa represents a significant evolution of Crossbasket Castle’s guest experience. Thoughtfully designed to deliver a ritual-led holistic wellness journey, featuring bespoke organic spa products from the Isle of Harris, it will feature a range of restorative facilities, including dedicated relaxation spaces, four tranquil treatment rooms and an immersive thermal suite for complete rejuvenation. Each element has been curated to create a seamless sense of calm, encouraging guests to unwind, reset and reconnect.

In keeping with the estate’s tradition of drawing inspiration from its rich history and surrounding landscape, the spa takes its name from the Four Angels Waterfall, which sits on the castle’s grounds, cascading from the river and flowing through Crossbasket estate.

Complementing the Four Angels Spa is the introduction of 12 luxury timber cabins, nestled along the banks of the river. Inspired by the bespoke Hebridean spa product range, the Crossbasket Cabins blend refined interiors with a sensitive architectural approach that enhances their natural setting.

Positioned to maximise privacy and uninterrupted views of the surrounding woodland and river, each lodge offers a self-contained sanctuary. Accommodating up to four guests, the lodges feature a luxury suite styled bedroom alongside carefully considered touches that elevate the experience, including a freestanding copper roll top bath set against a floor-to-ceiling window, perfect for long soaks immersed in nature.

Together, the Four Angels Spa and Crossbasket Cabins strengthens Crossbasket Castle’s position as one of Scotland’s leading luxury destinations, where heritage, hospitality and wellbeing converge.

Alison Timoney, owner of Crossbasket Castle, said: “From the outset, our vision has been to create an experience that goes beyond traditional luxury hospitality. We celebrate our rich history and continue to invest for the future by delivering enhanced guest experiences.

“Our castle is the jewel in our estate’s crown, providing the perfect setting for special occasions, gatherings, afternoon teas and sumptuous stays. Meanwhile, our contemporary Art Deco inspired hotel, also set within the estate, offers luxurious guest rooms and two delicious dining options including Foveran’s, a light drenched palm court style bar and restaurant, and Trocadero’s which is our vibrant supper club with live music and entertainment.

“The introduction of the Four Angels Spa and Crossbasket Cabins further enhances our vision for the overall estate, offering guests a place to fully immerse themselves in the beauty of our surroundings whilst enjoying a moment of calmness and relaxation.

“Every detail throughout the restoration and developments have been carefully considered for our guests to enjoy pure escapism with every visit.”
