We’ve received messages from residents in the Crescents area of Blantyre sharing their concerns about speeding vehicles in recent weeks.
A reminder this is a 30mph area, dropping to 20mph near Calderside Academy and Auchinraith Primary Schools. The signage isn’t great. Please take care driving in this area, mindful of the speed limits.
With the better weather, many kids have been out playing in the streets, and residents concerns come after vehicles were seen clearly travelling faster than 30mph, just missing the children at a blind corner. Roads near the Crescents can be a lot busier especially for the school run. Let’s all slow down near schools.

More/extended 20mph zones required across Blantyre – one could start with all of Station Road
