Just a little clarification as a few people had been asking if the Newhousemill Bridge has re-opened yet?
The bridge at High Blantyre on the backroads to East Kilbride is definitely OPEN!
The confusion seems to have come from South Lanarkshire’s holding response when the repair works were underway suggesting it would be closed all of July. That clearly wasn’t the case with the work being done much faster than anticipated.
The bridge nicknamed locally as “The Wee Bridge” is the subject of almost daily traffic accidents due to how narrow it is and has been subjected to loads of extensive repairs over the years.
